Despite recent rains, state and federal officials continue to warn that severe drought and historically low snowpack mean Colorado could be in for a long wildfire season.

Storms raged from Colorado Springs to Denver last night bringing in rain, thunderstorms, hail, flash flood warnings and tornadoes.

Severe drought hitting much of Colorado’s mountains is prompting many local officials to consider implementing fire bans; a move that follows similar restrictions already in place along the tinder dry Front Range.
