Decision Expected Soon on Roan Plateau Drilling

A U.S. District judge is expected to issue a ruling soon on the ongoing lawsuit over oil and gas drilling on Colorado’s Roan plateau. Environmental groups are trying to block the drilling, and say federal regulators failed to fully examine the risks to wildlife and air quality.

New Mexico Wildfire Now Biggest In State History

A wildfire that has burned 265 square miles of the Gila National Forest in New Mexico is now burning across 170,000 acres. That makes it the biggest wildfire in state history.

As the AP reports, this fire eclipses a blaze last year that burned 159,593 acres in Las Conchas and threatened the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
