Six months after the High Park Fire destroyed 259 homes, many businesses have bounced back in Rist Canyon, north of Fort Collins. For some, recovery came easily. Others had a longer road to travel.
The Poudre River, revered for its normally pristine water, was contaminated by so much High Park Fire ash, it was rendered nearly useless for water managers in Greeley and Fort Collins.

Life is still anything but normal for Chief Bob Gann and the Rist Canyon Volunteer firefighters. The High Park Fire destroyed one of the department’s stations and some of the volunteer’s homes in the area.
