The High Park Fire is still burning west of Fort Collins and is currently 50% contained. A new pre-evacuation notice was sent for the Rustic area including Glen Echo this morning.
With Colorado and the rest of the drought-plagued Southwest coming off a winter that saw a record low snowpack, federal fire managers battling the destructive High Park Fire west of Fort Collins are warning of a long, expensive summer ahead.
Fire managers working the High Park fire west of Ft. Collins have said Mother Nature is the only one who can truly put this fire out. While many are hoping the state’s monsoon rains will arrive early – others are worried about the problem the rains can bring – flooding and erosion.
