ABC News White House correspondent Jonathan Karl now says he regrets that some key parts of a major story he reported on May 10 were wrong.

NBC announced Monday that Deborah Turness, the former editor of the British ITV News, will become president of NBC News beginning in August.

Turness, the network said, becomes the first woman to head the news division of one of the Big Three television networks in the United States.

Pair of unrelated stories this week, both involving the news media, served to remind a lot of Americans of how little information that we may assume to be private, really is private. One story involves the U.S. Justice Department's efforts to find out who reporters are talking to; the other, reporters secretly monitoring their sources' activities.
