Day Of Mourning For Slain South African Miners

More than a thousand people turned out for a huge memorial service for the 34 miners killed by police at a South African platinum mine last Thursday. Questions are still being raised as how the tragedy occurred. Police say they fired in self defense on miners armed with machetes and clubs; miners say they were running from tear gas that police had thrown at them.

No Parole For Mark David Chapman, John Lennon's Killer

The man who murdered Beatle John Lennon in December 1980 has been denied parole for a seventh time, The Associated Press reports.

Mark David Chapman, New York State Corrections inmate No. 81A3860, is now 57-years-old. He's serving a prison term of 20 years to life.

Lennon was gunned down at the entrance to his Manhattan apartment building.
