Barnaby Jack, one of the world's most prominent hackers, died on Friday, the San Francisco Medical Examiner tells NPR's Steve Henn.
As Steve tells our Newscast unit, Jack became a hacker hero when he exploited a security vulnerability in an ATM machine and made it spit out cash.

"Virginia Johnson, one half of the famed Masters and Johnson research team on human sexual behavior, has died at the age of 88, her son, Scott, tells St. Louis Public Radio."
The station adds that "Johnson was a resident of The Altenheim [a retirement home] in St. Louis, and the facility has also confirmed her death."
Dennis Farina, the real-life Chicago Police Department cop turned actor, has died, his publicist says.
Farina was best known for portraying Det. Joe Fontana on the TV show Law and Order. His publicist Lori De Waal says Farina died Monday morning after suffering a blod clot in his lung.
He was 69.
