Management of the High Park Fire burning west of Fort Collins has been turned over to a federal Type 1 team today. KUNC’s Erin O’Toole spoke to KUNC’s Kirk Siegler about what that means for fighting the 37,000 acre blaze.
Editor's Note: The High Park Fire started on Saturday, June 9th. Winds and high temperatures helped the fire rapidly spread. A wildfire burning west of Fort Collins has now scorched more than 20,000 acres and damaged or destroyed at least 18 structures over the weekend. Hundreds of people and animals have been evacuated as the fire continues burns out of control.
